Although I have a Ph.D in Comparative Literature (my 1998 dissertation Global Infatuation was on Harlequin Enterprises), I have never held a position in Comp Lit. Instead, I moved on to Library and Information Science, eventually becoming Professor in a discipline I had no training in. And as of 2014, I'm Professor of Mediated Culture—which is really no discipline at all—at the Department of Culture and Society, Linköping University, Sweden. Throughout all of these disciplinary movements, I have remained committed to one thing: the interdisciplinary study of intellectual property.
Together with Professor Kathy Bowrey at UNSW in Sydney I Co-Direct The International Society for the History and Theory of Intellectual Property (ISHTIP). Member of AcademiaNet. 2016 ERC Advanced Investigator Grant for "Patents as Scientific Information, 1895-2020," or PASSIM (2017-2023). Never tires of intellectual property and is therefore currently expanding my ip focus to include a new book project on one of my favorite things in life: champagne! And Champagne. In addition, I'm a great fan of Paris, Georges Perec and Winnie-the-Pooh. Always interested in new ideas, projects, collaboration and networking.
